Hill’s Shoes is a family business. Full disclosure, it is my family’s business. My grandfather opened W.C. Hill & Co. on July 8, 1927. Later, a larger building was placed on the same land and it was renamed Hill’s General Store. In the late 1980s, my parents got out of the grocery and gas business and remodeled the building, creating a shoe store. It seems a bit far fetched, but shoes were always a piece of the business. This was a general store in a small mountain town.
As the internet grew in popularity, Hill’s needed a web presence, but because of its small town roots and desire to be a full-service (fit-you-perfect) store we didn’t want to do e-commerce.
